I am Aneela and your parent coach.

 

My work approach:

  • My areas of focus include boundary setting and promoting autonomy, helping parents establish respectful limits while allowing children to make age-appropriate choices and decisions and be independant from a young age
  • Accepting and validating children’s feelings, their interests and points of view which help building trust with parents
  • Having lived in a joint family, I provide insights into multi-generational dynamics.
  • Balancing career with parenthood from toddler tantrums to endless questions of growing kids

 

A little about my journey:

I grew up in a home where I saw chaos in various measures. I thought I will never let my kids be affected by my arguments and anger.

Fast forward, I became a mom to a lovely boy and as he turns 1+ year and started wanting control, I started to get angry as I felt like a victim who had no control anymore and had to shout to get it back.

When he demanded things I am not able to do or don’t want to do, I wanted to yell and get my power back.

That’s when it hit me ‘what am I doing?’

They say where there is a will, there is a way, so I found TPEP and started learning more about respectful parenting, healing myself and growing as a parent.

I learned how to be respectful and gentle while keeping healthy boundaries.

I learned how to be there in my child’s difficult time (read: tantrum) while being calm and composed myself.

This journey led me to a passion of supporting more people in becoming the parents they wish to be and minimising the transfer of generational trauma.

I am already in a helping profession as a Doctor so becoming a Parent Coach also felt close to heart.

I still fail many days but it is not about being perfect. It’s an ongoing journey and important thing is to forgive ourself and keep coming back to it for our beautiful kids.
